Academic Affairs launches in-house survey to improve undergraduate experience

As part of Wayne State’s ongoing efforts to enhance students’ learning and experiences, the university will conduct its annual undergraduate student survey, the Survey of Warrior Educational Engagement and Transformation (SWEET), from March 17 through April 18.

All faculty and staff should encourage students to complete the survey. Participation is voluntary, confidential and will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Conducted by the Division of Academic Affairs, SWEET aims to explore the student journey from start to finish, and is an in-house survey developed with collaborative, interdisciplinary input from across campus. The ability to survey the entire undergraduate population will help capture the experience of students at every point of their Wayne State journey, allowing the university to identify opportunities to provide better support. Data collected through this process will help inform decisions to enhance the student experience at WSU.

“Each Warrior student experience is unique, and we know that our students take many individual paths to graduation and encounter different opportunities and challenges during their educational journey,” said provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, Laurie M. Lauzon Clabo, Ph.D. “We want to better understand these experiences to provide them with the best possible support and resources. This survey, which provides us with rich and meaningful data to better support our students, is critical to learning more from their invaluable perspective.”

Through mostly multiple-choice questions, students can share feedback on their experiences with our campus environment and activities, learning and instruction, health and wellness, and more. The survey will also ask questions about students’ experiences with faculty, academic advisors and support services, and their courses and study habits.
