Soon-to-be-launched Warrior Road app promotes student success

This fall, Wayne State University will launch a free digital application to drive student success. The Warrior Road app is an engaging tool that will help students thrive at Wayne State and beyond.

Available for download on the App Store or Google Play, the Warrior Road app will help students stay on track as they earn their degree. Students will be able to readily access unique details including their upcoming tasks, academic advisor’s contact information and degree progress. Similar to a to-do list, the Warrior Road app is designed to also guide students as they complete different tasks such as registering for New Student Orientation, meeting with an advisor, paying tuition, signing up for classes, and applying for graduation.

“Warrior Road is going to be another way we brand ourselves as a progressive, 21st-century university,” said Wayne State Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Keith E. Whitfield. “It represents an incredible way to empower our students, facilitate our advisors’ engagement and make our campus community more connected.”

Each student will have customized tasks once they log on the Warrior Road app. Tasks will be assigned based on target populations as defined in campus data sources. All tasks will include resources such as websites or relevant contact information to help the student take action.

“C&IT built Warrior Road to help our students stay on track throughout their academic career,” said Daren Hubbard, chief information officer and associate vice president for Computing & Information Technology at Wayne State. “We were able to leverage existing data, resources and staff to provide need-to-know information to our students in real time.

“This semester, our incoming students at orientation will be able to use Warrior Road on their mobile phones as they navigate the new student experience,” Hubbard continued. In an email sent to WSU faculty and staff members, Whitfield encouraged employees to contribute content to this new digital resource. To gain access to the Warrior Road app management interface and add tasks and create a target population, please email warriorroad@wayne.edu by Wednesday, July 1, 2020.
