Postdoctoral to Faculty Transition Fellowship Program Application

WSU is seeking recent or upcoming Ph.D. recipients as postdoctoral fellows for three-year appointments beginning Sept. 1, 2017 (students who anticipate defending their dissertations by Sept. 1, 2017 may apply). Fellows will receive stipends 20 percent above National Research Service Award levels, plus excellent benefits. They will work with faculty mentors, participate in learning communities and receive funding for two national conferences for every appointment year. Fellows who obtain external grants during their postdocs will be considered for tenuretrack appointments at WSU with competitive compensation and startup packages.

Our goal is to build a strong pool of early-career, urban disparity scholars who will contribute to academic excellence and diversity in keeping with Wayne State's mission to create and advance knowledge, prepare a diverse study body to thrive, and positively impact local and global communities.

WSU is one of the 50 largest public universities in the nation and has received the Carnegie Foundation's highest classifications for research and community engagement, with annual research expenditures of more than $218 million. WSU is a member of the University Research Corridor along with the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, generating 95 percent of research in the state and supporting economic growth throughout Michigan. As one of Detroit's largest employers, WSU is a driving force behind the city's resurgence and economic comeback.
