Information for Fall 2024 Admission is Forthcoming.

We will be offering Information Sessions this fall for the 2024 admission cycle. Schedule is as follows. We will cover more about admission criteria, application process, program requirements, Wayne Med-Direct scholarship and what it is like to pursue a degree at WSU. Program representatives and current Wayne Med-Direct students will share information about this wonderful opportunity to pursue career in medicine here in the heart of Detroit. 

• Thursday, Sept. 21st, 6-7 pm ET (Online via Zoom)

• Thursday, Oct. 19th, 5-6 pm ET  (Online via Zoom)

• Friday, Nov. 3rd, 5-6 pm ET (Online via Zoom)

Fall 2024 admission to Wayne Med-Direct: 

• Application deadline for fall 2024 entry to Wayne Med-Direct: Dec. 1, 2023 

Eligibility criteria for fall 2024:  

Wayne Med-Direct evaluates candidates through a holistic admission process. To be eligible to apply, you must:  

• Have a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA   

• Have a minimum 1310 SAT or 28 ACT score* 

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident  

• Be an incoming first-year student  

Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds who are also interested in studying health disparities.  

*Students are required to submit an ACT or SAT score to be eligible for consideration to Wayne Med-Direct. Students should not elect to the test-optional pathway offered for general admissions to WSU if they wish to be considered for Wayne Med-Direct for fall 2024 admissions. 

We understand that students may have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants will have an opportunity to share information in an optional essay about how the pandemic has impacted their educational experience and their current application to the program. 

Admission process:

Applications will be evaluated by the Wayne Med-Direct admission committee using a holistic approach.  

25 semifinalists will be selected and called for a virtual interview. 10 finalists will be selected from the semifinalist pool from the interviews.  

Admission timeline for fall 2024: 

All communication will be delivered via email to the address provided in the application.  

• WSU undergraduate application becomes available online: Aug. 1, 2023
• Application deadline for Wayne Med-Direct: Dec. 1, 2023
• All applicants will be notified if selected for an interview by early January, 2024 
• Virtual interviews for semi-finalists will be on early February, 2024
• Semifinalists will be notified about finalist standing by early February, 2024
