Extracurricular Engagements: I am a new volunteer in Gallery Service at the Detroit Institute of Arts. I am a teaching assistant at Spain Elementary School with ArtRoad, a nonprofit that brings back art classes to Detroit Public Schools that have defunded them. I also volunteer at an after-school program called Project Healthy Community at Schulze Academy for Technology and Arts, where I help kindergarten through second graders develop literacy skills.

Extracurricular Engagements: At Wayne State, I am in the Campus Activities Team, where we regularly plan engaging events around campus. I am also in PERIOD, an organization that focuses on improving and breaking down the stigma around menstrual health, RISE, a learning community for women of color, and the Muslim Students Association, which brings together Muslim students on campus. Outside of school, I am a Dental Assistant at Happy Smile Family Dental and I am also a coach for the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament (MIST) for my high school.

Extracurricular Engagements: I am involved with Future Pediatrics, which allows me to explore the field that I hold interest in. I also partake in a shadowing opportunity with a family medicine doctor, and I enjoy that a great deal as well. I still keep up with my babysitting charges, and even found a few in the Detroit area. I got involved with on campus ministry, and attend a small group through Detroit New Life. There are many opportunities to be involved, and I look forward to exploring other extracurricular activities in my undergraduate career.

Extracurricular Engagements: After having done research in high school, I knew it was something I wanted to continue at WSU, so I have been an undergraduate researcher in a psychology research lab. I also joined a pre-health professional fraternity organization called MedLife in my first semester at WSU. I also tutor and play tennis whenever I get the chance to go back home.

Extracurricular Engagements: I am most proud to be a member of the Wayne State Warrior Marching Band Color Guard, since I love being able to see every home football game and perform at halftime. I also take part in a variety of clubs, such as Circle K, Generation Hallyu, and K Soul. Outside of school, I am very active with my church and local hospital, where I often volunteer on weekends.

Extracurricular Engagements: I volunteer weekly at the Michigan Humane Society Detroit shelter by walking dogs and helping with facility maintenance. I also volunteer at the University Health Center in the OB/GYN department with a pre-term birth prevention program called Make Your Date Detroit. Through this program, I am helping reduce pre-term birth in Detroit by educating expecting mothers about the risk factors for pre-term birth and collecting data for studies run by the hospital.

Extracurricular Engagements: Outside of the classroom, I participate in Future Pediatrics on campus, and volunteer at the Children's Hospital in the DMC as a way finder for patients who come into the welcome center. I will be starting Nutrition Food Sciences research in the summer.

I like to keep myself busy without being too overwhelmed. Being involved in activities on and off campus allows my life to have more variety than just going to class every day. Besides classes, I am a Research Assistant for Dr. Marjorie Beeghly within the Department of Psychology, I am a volunteer and the Food Drive Coordinator for the W Food Pantry, I am a Fit Kids Mentor, and I volunteer at the Detroit Medical Center. I am also a Tutor/SI leader for the Academic Success Center, and participate in various clubs such as PERIOD, MSA, and SOS. I am also taking a yoga class and hope to take a photography course soon, too!

The rich culture and history of the city is more accessible than ever, and I have had the opportunity to document its growth through my involvement as part of La Vié Detroit, an editorial that aims to present Detroit as a cultural and artistic hotspot for years to come.

Extracurricular Engagements:

At Wayne State I am involved in Student Senate where I am the Director of Community Affairs. I sit on project groups that promote graduation rates for African American students and have worked to increase the amount of counselors in our Counseling and Psychological Services. I also co-founded the Generation Hallyu club on campus for Korean culture and the K Soul club for Korean Pop cover dancing. Currently, I do research in a genetics and cancer biology lab that works on finding new early detection methods for ovarian cancer. Outside of Wayne State, I am involved in a range of community activities with my church youth group including choirs, plays, and services.

Extracurricular Engagements:

Over the last two years, I was involved in clubs such as MEDLIFE and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. In addition, I am part of the Community & Public Health volunteer program at Detroit Medical Center, where we test emergency room patients for HIV. Whenever the weather is cool, I like to ride my bike around. If it isn't, a classic novel is more than exhilarating. Currently, I am planning on founding a drama club on campus, so stay tuned!

I work in a research lab in the Physiology department at the Wayne State School of Medicine. We study how the brain regulates blood pressure in response to exercise, or lack of exercise. I also play intramural soccer at Wayne State with some friends, and a few other Med-Direct students.

Extracurricular Engagements:

I am the co-head of a Korean dance organization here at Wayne state called K Soul, along with being one of the original founders of Wayne State's first general Korean Culture club, Generation Hallyu. I am also actively teaching myself the Korean language. I have played violin for 11 years and still practice when I can.

Extracurricular Engagements:

Since being here at WSU, I have had the opportunity to meet a variety of new people and try new things. I volunteer with FitKids360, and organization that focuses on teaching and encouraging families to pursue a healthy lifestyles in terms of nutrition, exercise, and behavior. I also continue to study the effects of traumatic brain injury in a research lab, where I present at conferences and work on writing publications. Additionally, I play club volleyball here at Wayne State.

At Wayne State I'm part of the historical Latino fraternity Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc., in which I currently serve as a secretary. I participate in Wayne State's dungeons and dragons club and the Menstrual health club "Period". I am a peer mentor for the Wayne Med-Direct and ReBuild programs, and I also work at the Mort Harris Recreation and fitness center as a student assistant. In addition I'm in the Brotherhood and Network programs as well. Outside of Wayne State I'm an eagle scout from troop 368 and I'm also a member of Pathways to Excellence.
