Semifinalists

24 semifinalists are selected and called for an interview at the Wayne Med-Direct Academic Day, which will be held virtually in February 2024. 10 finalists are selected from the semifinalist pool at the interviews.

The admission and interview committees include WSU undergraduate faculty and representatives of the Wayne State School of Medicine and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Academic Day agenda

Academic Day is a full-day event running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a Saturday. Semifinalists will participate in interviews and have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion consisting of current Wayne Med-Direct students and program representatives.

If you are unable to participate in the Academic Day:

Please contact us as soon as the interview offer is received. Alternative interview arrangements will be made with students who cannot participate in the interview due to reasonable scheduling conflicts.

Next steps for finalists

Candidates will be notified of their acceptance to Wayne Med-Direct within a week after Academic Day. Selected finalists will receive a welcome package including the offer letter and the Wayne Med-Direct contract.

Candidates must plan to secure their spot in the incoming Wayne Med-Direct cohort by:

• notifying us of their acceptance of the offer via email
• signing and returning the contract
• paying the enrollment deposit before the date specified in the offer letter

The Wayne Med-Direct program will communicate further with finalists about the pre-freshman summer program, housing arrangements and new student orientation.
