Application steps

1. Complete an application for undergraduate admission to Wayne State

Do not complete both applications. Doing so may complicate the application process and create delays in processing.

If you completed the WSU online application for undergraduate admission:

  • Please have your transcript(s) and official standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), if available, sent to Wayne State well in advance of the application deadline to avoid delays.
  • For more information on sending transcript(s), test scores and application fees, please visit wayne.edu/admissions/freshman/deadlines/.

If you completed the Common Application for undergraduate admission to Wayne State:

  • WSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions will download your application into the Wayne State application system which can take several business days.
  • Once downloaded, you will receive a temporary username and password from the WSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions that will allow you to log in and access your submitted application in the WSU application portal.
  • In the WSU application portal, you will find a checklist of the components of your submitted application. Documents submitted through your Common Application will be automatically imported to the checklist and marked as complete.

    • Complete the "Med-Direct requirements" checklist when you reach the portal after submitting the application.
  • After submitting the application (for applicants who did not opt-in before submitting as above, but later decided to opt-in):
    • Locate the "Special Programs" section on the right side in your application portal and opt-in to Wayne Med-Direct.
    • Refresh the browser and the "Med-Direct requirements" checklist will appear in the portal. (Please note that it may take up to 10 minutes for the "Med-Direct requirements" checklist to populate in the portal.)
